| Welcome to the third Vintage Roots show for the Downlow radio. This excursion into the blues sound of 1970′s Jamaica showcases the gems from my oldies collection. Johnny |
| Osbourne – Purify Your Heart is a the third track on this show. Originally released on a 12″ titled Big Shot, this sound system anthemhit the streets in 1979. There have been numerous remakes but none hit the spot like this cut which also happens to be monstrously hard to come by. One of the deepest most beautiful tracks ever written and performed by the late Dennis Brown is track – Words of the Farmer. Check the Hammond organ pulsing in the background from start to finish…truly a masterpiece. If you ever get the chance to hear this 7″ on a real black box sound system you too will understand. |
