Welcome to The Downlow Radio Slow Jams show. Early on in this show we feature “What Can You Bring Me”, an early funk classic from Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd St Band. This
killer 7″ from 1971 was recorded in LA as a Warner Brothers promo. The band who formed inhe mid 1960′s went their separate ways in 1972 with members going on to work the likes of Bill Withers and Earth Wind & Fire. The next record worth a mention is a track from Garnett Silk “What Do You Say”. This early nineties cut produced by Digital B was released along with much of Garnett’s best work after his untimely death. Garnet was set to become one of Jamaica’s biggest stars but he died in 1994. When apparently testing some guns with his two bothers in his home town of Mandeville one went off and hit a propane cylinder. The brothers escaped the one room wooden shack; however when Silk returned to the blaze to save his sleeping mother neither survived.
