Gideon – Slow Jams # 2

Welcome to the third slow jams show on The Downlow Radio by me…Gideon. There are some real rare gems on this show. The first one that gets a mention is the 12″ white label bootleg of Angie Stone’s “I Wish I Didn’t Miss You Anymore”

by Nuffwish. It took me over 2 years to find out what the original reggae track was. I gave up the search after numerous failed attempts at finding the dub. Then two years later I got a parcel in the post….a 7″ record with “happy birthday” written on. My ex(the chicken) who loved my mix CD’s had apparently joined some internet forum somewhere and done a bunch of research and eventually found it. The track is called “Righteous Kingdom” by The African Brothers and got a recent reissue on the Black Roots label. No one seems to know the exact release date of this 7 but it’s around 1971. The African Brothers were the young Tony Tuff , Derrick Howard and the legendary Sugar Minott. Amazing track.
