Welcome to my reggae show # 8. We open this show with the rudest girl in the reggae business Tanya Stephens. This 7″ sound system rocker is in true Tanya style. With her potent brand of scathing
social commentary set to crucify the Jamaican male ego, Tanya’s lyrics have become not only become legendary for their fierceness but also well respected. Tanya is the only reggae star to date to have EVER published any material directly questioning Jamaica’s famed hatred of homosexuals. Tanya, who has recorded with the likes of Sizzla (who apart from being reviled for his anti gay lyrics also happens to be a musical genius) is extremely able. Almost every reggae set I ever play features a Tanya. The second track worth a mention is from French reggae label Bellville International on the Bye Bye Bye rhythm. Mon Pays est Malade (My country is sick) by M.Lezard is tough…..lyrics are brilliant.
