| Welcome to my Roots show # 11. These show are entirely dedicated to new Jamaican music. These days a hell of a lot of these 7″ are not pressed on the island but 99% of the records I play Jamaican |
| artists. One up and coming artist worth a mention in Ginjah. Features on this show singing “Dam Girl” on the Real Rock rhythm (of Cool Out Son fame). Ginjah has been around for quite a while now but has barely made the headlines unlike the biggies like Tarrus Riley who is arguably much less talented. In my eyes Ginjah has carried the torch ever since Junior Kelly has somehow lost his way. Once a king in my eyes (earl 2000′s) Junior can only seen to warble shite lovers…but now we have Ginjah. The second Ginjah featured is called Black Archer. The third is Black Sugar and the final (saving the best for last is Ginjah – Unification with the live honky band The Scucialists supplying the rhythm track. |
