Gideon – Slow Jams # 16

Welcome back to the longest and most popular show on the Downlow Radio. There are a few brand new releases and quite a few vintage records
that are so rare that that even I (an addict and semi proffessional vinyl detective) cannot lay my hands on a copy….WAV files only I’m afraid. The first track is a little out-take from Eryka Badu’s new album…..”Loving You”. I owe Ninebob a nod for the second tune – Candy Bowman’s – “Since I Found You”. This 1981 RCA killer is VERY hard to come by. I heard it in Rob’s front room a couple of weeks back and I’m ashamed to admit I plaguerised the fuck out of him and here it is as the second track on SJ16 (he’s quietly sat on a copy for years now without bothering to play it to me…it’s a serious 2-step rare groove gem). Listen out for Alton Ellis on this show too. Alton has been one of my favourite reggae vocalists for years now…..check out “Willow Tree”…….proper 7″ fattness. Anyone who knows “The King Of Rocksteady”‘s life story will know his influence was massive. He also had 20 children…..breeder extrordinaire. This show I also debut a rather scratchy old relic by The Shaw Singers, featured on my Vintage Gospel show # 2. I have been trying for a copy of, “He Never Left Me Alone” since last year. I finally won an ebay bidding war 2 weeks ago….halleluja.

Anyway talking of rare records if anyone can find me a copy of ‘Do You Think God Will Let You By” – By Joiners Five Trumpets, also featured on this show, I will personally give them as much money as they care to ask for….££££££££££££££££……..try me………..gideon@thedownlowradio.com.com.

The Omar S – “Set It Out”, reminds me of you Ben.
