Welcome to the 15th Slow Jams Show with myself, Gideon. This show has some killers bits of vinyl on it ..and some rare mother fuckers too…
|
| Track 3 is Garnet Mimms’ northern soul gem - As Long As I Have You. The 7″ is more or less extinct from the international vinyl market place. I had my copy pressed from a wav file a few years back and it was worth the effort big time. The next tune worth a mention is from the legendary Arsenio Rodriguez - Esas No. Born in Cuba in 1911, Arsenio claimed to have invented Mambo . Blinded as a young boy when a mule kicked him in the head, he took up music and wrote over 200 songs in his lifetime. Donny Hathaway feature’s later on in this show with his greatest song Little Ghetto Boy. Releaseed in 1972 this recording is a perfect example of Hathaway’s approach to soul. |
